Tfw ur otp tag on ao3 updates but its another modern/coffeeshop/college au

tfw ur otp tag on ao3 updates but half of the fics are modern aus or breylo

DEAR GOD I FEEL THIS IN MY BONES

Guys don’t kill the fanfiction authors…making me feel like the old ass mom of this fandom

Ya real talk. …… u don’t have to read it?? And fic writers don’t have to cater to u?? Like if there’s something u wanna see. . ……. write (or commission/request) it your damn self. Writing is for fun, not to fulfil the whims of individual fans.

Actually tbh getting the stories that you want when you want them is as easy as finding a fanfic author and talking about an idea you have, like get inspired about it and talk about it some authors reallly really get inspired that way.

Or just make a few posts on tumblr with ideas about aus. Like if you have an idea don’t keep quiet about it? Modern/college/etc aus are really easy and simple to do, so like, if you want canon stuff or if you want some other kind of really specific au……….talk about it.

^^^^ I agree
@rey-is-ace-rey-is-aro
Do posts or artwork to influence others to write/draw, but dont jump on complaint post for something you don’t agree on , for simply not liking a type of au, really ?

especially when half the comments are being out of place, when at least in my case, I do go talk with others about au ideas i like, and post artwork/content about the said aus that I like, and hope others will like it too?

Honestly another thing is before you go ask an author for fics with your inspiring idea, make sure you’re friends/buds and all cause a random stranger coming up with a request about an au is weird af. Like yes please do go share your ideas but don’t be surprised if they don’t wanna talk back, if out of the blue you ask something cause you’d sound like this guy:

Or maybe…just write the stuff you want to read? Like, put in some effort yourself instead of getting others to do it for you? The gods know that most of my stuff originated from the thought of “ugh, nobody writes my rare-pair, I guess imma have to do it myself…” (the other half is split into “gift for friend” and “this is so wacky, I wonder if I can pull it off”)

And before you say “but I’m not a (good) writer” – well, how do you suppose we became writers in first place? Do you think we sprang into existence fully formed, with all our skills at our fingertips?

Seriously, OP, if you can make salty posts on tumblr, you can write a story yourself. Your time and energy would be invested in a much more worthwhile thing.

Hey before you go “OP stop making salty posts about x go write it yourself!!”, make sure to give a look at their blog to see if they write comics, draw art or have their own shitty fics written (I have).

I know what it means to strive and improve towards something, but quite frankly I find it ironic how so many of you accuse me of taking things personally, when you yourselves are taking a general opinion on a genre as a personal affront.

It’s just one more example of a definite entitlement problem in fandom. “I want to read X but you all only write Y *eyeroll*” That’s what your post sounds like, and it’s something fanfic-writers are very much sick of hearing. Because we get it a lot, and I think it’s understandable that we get crabby.

That you feel the need to make a post like that when you, yourself, are a creator – well, that’s just doubly sad, because you should know better than to lowkey shame people for writing something you personally don’t enjoy, for no other reason than that you don’t enjoy it.

And “it’s just my opinion” doesn’t fly either – it stops being about “just you” the moment you put something in a public space. Or would you go to a street musician playing jazz and shout where they can hear you, “I think jazz sucks, I wish they would play metal instead.” – I bet you wouldn’t.

Please think about that for a moment, and then ask yourself if that post that hurt the feelings of quite a few people contributed anything positive to the community.

The real fandom entitlement comes from expecting a creator to adjust their content to comply with 1 person’s wishes–which I didn’t, my post was simply a commentary.

What’s sad is that you’re implying people aren’t capable of separating a commentary on personal taste from criticism, and that they will take it personally when one person says they don’t like a specific kind of story.

Ages ago I promised @cheesytriangle some more Reydar–sorry it took me so long to deliver!

Rey leaned against the balcony,
taking in the view across the lake. The trees along the water’s edge glowed
with bioluminescence, bathing everything in an otherworldly glow.

She tugged at her dress, still
unaccustomed to the feel of it—despite layers upon layers of silken fabric she
felt utterly naked without a weapon at hand. She missed the weight of her staff
across her back. Even her lightsaber would have been better than nothing,
though she still felt a clumsy mess when she used it—try as she might she
hadn’t been able to access that fluidity of movement, that power she’d
channeled when she was fighting him.

She sighed and toyed with the
crumbling edges of the stone bannister, pushing away thoughts of that shadowed figure
that haunted her still.  She wasn’t sure
why she’d been sent along on this mission—surely Finn or Poe would have been
better choices to meet with an Ambassador. Finn knew far more about the First
Order and Poe more about the Resistance—but, Leia had insisted that she be the
one to accompany Captain Reggaro, and she certainly wasn’t about to refuse the General.

The sounds of the party were loud
through the open doors, the clink of glasses, the murmur of conversation, and
the thin soaring strings of the Abstarrian Viol. She let her eyes flutter shut,
let the warm light of the candles grace her back as she turned her face into
the wind. She sighed heavily.

“Yeah,” came a voice from the other
side of the railing, “I don’t like parties either. Too many people.”

@kylotrxsh ayeeee

As much as I’m team “be obnoxiously positive and encourage your fellow writers” I’m on @cheesytriangle side there.

She never dissed the authors themselves or argued the quality of their work.

Because there’s a BIG difference between saying “I don’t like this pairing / this type of AU” and “I don’t like people who write this type of stories” or “I don’t want people to write this type of stories”.

Also @thejgatsbykid, my issue with you today is that you’re judging Ritos for something you’re doing all the time? Like it didn’t take me long to find your comment about the daddy thing.

So my advice today folks: Get mad at people who are actively discouraging/ making fun/ judging anyone who produces art that they don’t like, but don’t jump at the throat of someone who is merely expressing an opinion.

On the other hand; make sure to leave kudos/comments/send love to authors who produce things you personally enjoy because it’s the Hits/Kudos ratio that is killing authors who are already struggling, not folks not reading about something they have no interest in.

Omg can someone please help

I was all ‘omg stahp making reylo normal they are magick’ at the beginning of the fandom, but now the weirder, the better for me. I think we all start as fandom purists, but gradually that boss/teacher/stepbrother/doctor/highschooler/lead singer AU takes a hold of you and you end up like that sweet little Shiba caught between a brick wall and a fence with no concept of how you got there but by god you will enjoy the heavy petting.

Today in Reylo News: High-Key Furry upsets the Coffee Shop hornet nest

I’m so sorry that you’re getting all this flak for just having an opinion about what kind of fics you like???? Like that is so confusing to me? Your art is a gift to the fandom and I hope people will just calm down and realize it’s not bad to have a damn opinion on this internet hellscape

ikr? but honestly I already replied to where I felt it was due, so now people are just reblogging the post without my reply lmao
Either way its normal, I’m not really bothered by it cause I didnt do anything tbh.

Your attitude towards fanfictions in this fandom is pretty petty and honestly really disappointing…

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Although here I’m presuming that you mean for my distaste for modern aus and breylo which is all really a matter of taste, since you know I’m interested in the kylo ren and rey dynamic within any situation that isn’t a modern au because I personally find boring? Cause personally ya know I find it really boring to split up the kylo and ben when its when they’re in 1 character is what makes them interesting and gives them the emotional discord within him?
Since ya know if I feel like ot3s then I just go look at reylux, finnreylo or jedistormpilot since I find it more interesting then breylo.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

It’s really weird being told I have a disappointing attitude towards fanfics for this fandom when this is a reylo dedicated blog so I blog only about reylo stuff or things related to this, but also when I have an entire tag on this blog dedicated to fanarts inspired by fanfics I absolutely love, and have fic’ rec’d fics I like too.

But sure ok, I am a petty and disappointing person with a petty and disappointing attitude towards fanfics with themes I don’t like cause I find them boring since like ya know, people aren’t allowed to have likings.

¯_(ツ)_/¯
